Visiting Hong Kong is always so energizing for me! In the past, Hong Kong has already surprised me with its trendy jewelry scene that shows an eclectic mix of Asian and Western influences. This time, I encountered a new side of Hong Kong – Carnet Jewellery has introduced this city to me as the high jewelry hub of Asia!
I first came across Carnet Jewellery at Masterpiece London and was instantly drawn in by the power of contrasts in the jewels of designer Michelle Ong. Eastern and Western motifs, fragile lightness and boldness of gemstones – these jewels are just like the women they have been designed for: feminine and strong, fascinated with color and meaning and keen to express their personal style through jewelry.
I have been wanting to visit the Carnet Jewellery Hong Kong boutique ever since. The brand’s 20th birthday was a great occasion and I was lucky to bring home a book signed by Michelle Ong dedicated to this significant milestone! Illustrating the journey of Carnet from Michelle’s early design inspirations to establishing the first Hong Kong workshop and boutique on a path to present worldwide recognition. Scroll to see the magnificent jewels described in Carnet book in meticulous details!
Thank you Hong Kong, see you soon! I am extremely excited to explore more jewelry on my next encounter with Asia, the part of the world where I was born and where artistic talents like Michelle Ong and Wallace Chan create their masterpieces.
