Every year as the summer begins, Las Vegas turns sparkly with several of the world’s largest jewelry trade shows – including COUTURE 2019 – taking place in the Sin City! If discovering the best fine jewels of the world is a sin, I’ll certainly need an indulgence!
COUTURE Las Vegas Nevada jewelry trade show is held annually at the luxurious Wynn Hotel. It is one of the biggest, most exciting highlights in the jewelry calendar, so I was absolutely delighted to be invited once again. Check out my previous COUTURE social media takeover!
The end of May becomes a busy time for hundreds of jewelry designers as they prepare to showcase their newest collections to potential buyers, journalists and digital jewelry tastemakers like me. I am truly so honored to be a part of this community! So I decided to share with you my preparation for this event, behind the scenes and of course jewelry highlights.
Day 1 Jewellery Highlights: Mizuki, VRAM Jewelry and Lito Fine Jewelry
My preparation for COUTURE Las Vegas starts well before the actual event. As this jewelry trade show is appointment-only, I’m always excited to review all the new look books and invitations before selecting and booking with my top picks. But even with the most meticulous preparation, things don’t always go as planned and I really regret not having time to see some of my favorite brands. I would probably need at least 10 days to see all of the 200+ talented jewelry designers attending COUTURE Las Vegas 2019!
Day 2 Jewellery Highlights: Fernando Jorge, Aisha Baker, Anthony Lent, Arman Sarkisyan, Colette Jewelry, and Mike Joseph Jewelry
After an 11-hour flight from London and an 8 hour time zone shift melatonin becomes my best friend, who helps me to have a good sleep in order to get ready for 5 days of jewel sightseeing. My morning starts at 5 a.m. with makeup and dressing and finishes with cocktails at midnight, which is my favorite time of the day when I can catch up with old friends from the jewelry industry and get to meet new jewelry lovers. Thanks to everyone for coming to say hi and having a chat about all things sparkly!
Day 3 Jewellery Highlights: Retrouvai, Arunashi and Silvia Furmanovich
I am excited to announce that this year I was the judge of COUTURE Design Awards! It’s a big honor and great responsibility to select winning jewels across 13 categories including gold, pearls, colored gemstones, and diamonds. See my review of COUTURE, 2018 winning jewel! When most creative minds stretch the boundaries of design, selecting the winner is a challenge! So happy to have worked alongside two experienced retailers, a talented jewelry editor and a fellow designer on selecting creme de la creme of the boldest and most daring jewelry you can find!
Day 4 Jewellery Highlights: Stephen Webster, Alessio Boschi, Moritz Glik and Buddha Mama
I cannot resist styling jewels in extravagant and eye-catching looks! Last year, I adorned my face with jewels. This time I went for temporary floral tattoos and crazy makeup, which caused a lot of discussion on @gemologue Instagram and I loved it! Don’t be afraid to follow your creative self-expression, being different is the best way to be yourself! All you need is a Pinterest inspiration mood board and colorful pigments to play with. Voila! You’re the star of the show!
Day 5 Jewellery Highlights: Lydia Courteille, Bibi van der Velden, Sevan Bicakci, and Mattia Cielo
Thanks for joining me on my trip to COUTURE Las Vegas 2019 jewelry show! So happy to share my real routine and all the behind scenes with you! Which day of jewelry highlights was your favorite? Share with me in the comments down below!
